Liposomal Curcumin and Resveratrol

Can anyone recommend a brand of Liposomal Curcumin and or
Resveratrol?  Is anyone taking them together?    Thank you!

    I take 4 capsules of ProHealth Optimized Curcumin longvida (500mg) daily pre-breakfast on an empty stomach. I then eat breakfast one hour later.

    Instead of resveratrol, I take 2 LifeExtension pTeroPure (50mg) capsules daily on a full stomach just after lunch.

  2. Hubby takes 6g Curcumin longvida divided into 3 doses daily and 4 life extension Pteropure capsules daily divided into 2 doses

  3. We're just recently starting. Longvida curcumin on the way. I'm impressed by the Resveratrol literature. She's taking 250 bid, but will increase.

    Absorption is an issue with many of these ingredients. Fat-soluble nutrients are better absorbed when taken with a fat-containing meal. I frankly suspect we'd do best to mix our fat-soluble/water-insouble supplements thoroughly in something like pudding.

  4. I am taking the curcumin on an empty stomach based on information from the UCLA Alzheimer Translation Center website.

    Below is a quote taken from the above cited website:
    "...When in relation to a meal should I take curcumin to limit its metabolism?
    Fasting improves free curcumin absorption (eg. minimum of 3 hours after a meal). You make take it with a small drink (4-6 ounces; eg. cherry juice with a higher pH making it more soluble. Wait an hour before eating a meal. However, ancectodal evidence suggests that some people may have sleep disturbances if taken before bedtime...".

    Am I misinterpreting the above directions? The article also states that "Animal studies suggest that curcumin and fish oil synergize".

    Any additional thoughts on whether curcumin should be taken on empty stomach or with a fat-containing meal?

    1. I believe those statements about curcumin on an empty stomach are referring specifically to the Longvida formulation. Unformulated curcumin is probably best taken with fatty foods.

  7. Stephen the CUSP 9 protocol is recommending 1000 mg curcumin (longvida or Meriva) bid. Was the intent to dose 1000 mg of actual curcumin? For example if a 500 mg capsule of longvida contains 100 mg of curcumin, would the recommendation be 10 capsules bid, or is the intent to take 2 500 mg capsules of longvida which contains about 200 mg curcumin?

    1. I think you mean CUSP-ND rather than CUSP9. The intention was 2000 mg of total Longvida, or 4 capsules daily. The optimal dose is in fact unknown, so this recommendation is somewhat arbitrary.

      There is a clinical trial testing 8 capsules of Longvida daily for mild cognitive impairment.

    2. There was a pharmacokinetic study of different doses of Longvida in osteosarcoma patients.

      A single dose of 2000 mg total Longvida led to maximum plasma levels of free curcumin of 32.51 ng/mL. A 3000 mg dose led to maximum plasma levels of 31.42 ng/mL. And a 4000 mg dose led to max plasma levels of 41.15 ng/mL.

      In other words a 100% increase in the dose (doubling the dose) only increased maximum plasma levels of free curcumin by about 27%.
