Tumor Monorail

Is there any mention on this site about this Tumor Monorail?  What are your thoughts Stephen?

My husband had a focal seizure at the airport and this week had one while waiting for his f/u MRI at home.  He's never had seizures b4 this.    After 5 yrs tumor free from original GBM diagnosis,  recurrence/surgery one year ago, they now think he could have two tumors!   Time to head south to UCSF for Dr. Berger to weigh in since one tumor site looks close to the ventricle.  :-((

Also, he's had skin cancer on his head w/2 Moh's surgeries with grafts this last summer and the rashes from that, in itself, could inhibit him having surgery, fearing if any infection could get in his brain if they open him up.     Talk about getting slammed!!!  We are waiting to hear from UCSF for their opinion.  I don't have a good feeling this round.

  1. I'm very sorry to hear of his potential recurrence and other complications Candy. Did the skin cancer appear where he had the radiation for his brain tumor?

Tumor Monorail hasn't been discussed on this site before. Mainly because it's not yet available for human use. According to the article, they're working on getting it approved for a human clinical trial by the end of this year. I think it's interesting but I'm not going to get too excited until it's at least available for human use.

I hope Dr. Berger feels that he can help. Good luck!

  2. No, he had skin cancer prior to GBM. However, last few years during GBM, he's had deeper moh's surgeries with graphs. 2014 His skin became really thin and irritated with the arrays. We hung on for over a year since I used to cut holes in the sticky part so his skin could breathe better or he would have never made it as long as he did wearing them. Optune rep thought it was a pretty interesting idea. In fact, I made a video to send out to others how to do it w/o interrupting the signals. I think he still has more skin cancer on his head but they don't want to address it when he's got bigger issues to focus on. They definitely could not perform brain surgery if he was in the healing stage. I am sure the radiation which he's had has twice didn't help any.

Regarding the tumor monorail, they are hoping for trials to start end of 2019.

Having you heard if this "fast track" concept has accelerated? 2015 is the last I've read anything about it.

Hope to talk to UCSF Neuro doc tomorrow. Hope she has some encouraging news to proceed toward surgery.
    Thanks Stephen
