Noscapine

Anyone used the cough medication- Noscapine? I read on another group that it crosses the blood brain barrier, is synergetic with Temodar, BCNU and cisplatin. A long term GBM survivor used it in 2009 .,. If someone else used it on this group, can you pls share your experience and if you know if it has any contradictions with Avastin and/ or PD-1?

Thanks
Noha

  7. See the list of brand names on this page for countries where it is marketed.

Here is one example of a product available in Germany:

I'm not sure if it would be okay to take with disulfiram. You would have to carefully read the label to make sure it contains no ethanol (ethyl alcohol or simply "alcohol").

There is some evidence that noscapine has anti-angiogenic effects (in mouse glioma models), as well as sensitizing tumors to radiation:

See also this article, showing anti-tumor effect in mice, without inhibiting primary immune responses:

I've not seen any information that would suggest it shouldn't be used with Avastin or PD-1 antibodies.
