DCA

Have been reading the DCA posts of negative effects of even small dosages of DCA.  I was starting DCA today at a higher dose as recommended by one of the group but now as rethinking as I read of these ill effects.  Does anyone know if these effects are reversible?

Also I am still trying to figure out the best way to administer the DCA - now that I've learned how to measure it.  Should it be in water, juice, with food, how?

  1. On the medicore site they say that most side effects are reversible once you stop taking dca. I tried calling them to get more info about any side effects, how to prevent them etc. or if there could be any serious ones but they did no want to give me any information. They only told me to contact dca manufacturer. I did just that and am waiting for response. I am not sure if my brother's issues are due to dca. We just stopped it as a precaution and once we get more info will probably restart dca with different dosages and supplements to prevent side effects.

  2. Our experience: we only took DCA for two weeks. The liver enzymes continued to rise during week three when we were off the DCA. A month later.. liver back to normal ( according to standard metabolic panel).

  3. I took DCA at the recommended 12mg/kg of body weight for 5 months. I developed fairly severe peripheral neuropathy in my fingers and feet. The neuropathy in my feet affects my balance and the neuropathy in my fingers affects my ability to type on a computer keyboard which is a large part of my job. After being off DCA for 5 months I have regained a lot of feeling in my fingers but unfortunately not in my feet yet.

  4. Lori, did you take high doses of B1 or Benfotianmine while on DCA to try to prevent peripheral neuropathy? I was just reading in one of the papers from the head of Medicor that magnesium also can help.
