Dendritic Cell Therapy?

Has anyone has success with DC therapy here in the states?

We are looking at Dr. Chang's offering here:
https://dendritic.info/

And the Issel's center here:
http://www.issels.com/

For Dr. Chang's offering, does one need to travel to Germany initially or can it all be done here? I know that his NCV offering requires travel to Germany, initially.

Anyone have any experience with either Chang or Issel for GBM?

  1. There are open trials which use DC. Below is story of Sandra who took the DC pp65 (w/ tetanus) in 2006 and she is doing great today, Most DC PP65 trial participants are still in an early stage as phase two of this trial began in Fall 2015.

    1. Thanks for the info - I actually read the article previously and didn't realize it was a DC therapy. Unfortunately, my wife's KS is too low to participate in any clinical trial.

    3. Thanks for posting this link. The study hasn't even appeared on pubmed yet.

"To evaluate the relevance to established glioma, the effects of PD-1 blockade following DC vaccination were tested in intracranial (i.c.) glioma tumor–bearing mice. Treatment with both DC vaccination and PD-1 mAb blockade resulted in long-term survival, while neither agent alone induced a survival benefit in animals with larger, established tumors."

    4. This study is a must-read for anyone considering vaccines and PD-1 antibodies, esp if they are dealing with more than minimal residual disease.

  2. When I called issels.com few months back they told me that they don't have vaccines for brain tumors. I'm not sure if this is still the case.

    1. Thanks for the info - I think it's still the case as I couldn't find any mention of brain cancers with them.

  3. Logan,
I called them and they said they don't treat primary Brain Cancers due to the side effect concerns around inflammation, edema in brain. I pushed them a bit, but they seem to be clear about it.
I called up another one in Mexico and they do prepare a vaccine - I am waiting for more info. Their website is -- http://www.immunitytherapycenter.com/our-alternative-therapies/
Let me know what you found out from Dr. Chang's office. We are in the same boat as my mom had left-side body paralyzed and therefore clinical trials entry is unlikely (they all ask for KPS score of 70 or above).
