Is there any reason why pd1 inhibitors and immune stimulating supplements like various mushrooms supplements shark live oil and avemar shouldn't be used together.
I'm not aware of any reason for avoiding those combinations, but of course there is no direct evidence for such combinations, other than anti-PD-1 + celebrex, and anti-PD-1 + aspirin (both were synergistic in melanoma models).
My wife's on nivolumab/Opdivo. We avoided immune-stimulating agents (other than cimetidine) at first. There's significant *potential* toxicity of nivolumab with auto-immune injury to various organ systems. Who knows whether, e.g., PSP/PSK could increase the likelihood of such a reaction? After her fourth biweekly infusion, and with lymphocyte counts low from radiation therapy, we're likely to start now. She'd had some transient side effects with the first couple of infusions, but essentially none now. We'll be hitting the 'shrooms now. But I'd suggest others may also want to delay such agents until stability and tolerability on nivolumab (or other PD-1 treatment) is clearly established.
Hi Steve, thanks for the reply, just saw it now. How is your wife's PD1 treatment going? Are you taking other supplements with nivolumab? I'm a little confused about what supplements to take with Keytruda. We were doing many of the cocktail supplements in decent quantities and they were targeting angiogenesis etc. But now I'm looking at the same drugs but in context to immune effects and have found that green tea, vit d and resveratrol can be immune suppressing http://oregonstate.edu/ua/ncs/archives/2011/jun/mechanism-discovered-health -benefit-green-tea-new-approach-autoimmune-disease
Unfortunately, I can not answer your question. Just write about the supplement Lauricidin. I sent mail to the official site about the impact on the autoimmune processes of this supplement, and received answer, that no, Lauricidin cant spur autoimmune processes and acts as an immunomodulator.
Hi! My husband is on chemo+keytruda for stage IV gastric cancer. Since the start of this treatment we put him on LDN (low dose naltrexone), PSK, vitamin D, high Dose IV vitamin C, IV Lipoic acid and curcumin. NO side effects. I know is totally a different cancer, but I have learned a lot from this group. Today we came back from his PET scan, 90% tumor reduction, clean liver, clean stomach, only two ganglios!!!.
