Questions on Chloroquine for my mom

Hi folks/Stephen,

My mom is a GBM patient who is EGFRvIII amplified, and basis my research and Stephen's inputs, I realised that Chloroquine is a great adjuvant for my mom. I have been reading up on Chloroquine and had the following questions on the same:

1. I am not able to find Chloroquine in my country, but Chloroquine phosphate instead. Can they both be used interchangeably? Is the efficacy of both just as good?

Basis my research, the dosage of Chloroquine should be 150 mg. What should be the dosage of Chloroquine Phosphate, if it can be used interchangeably?

2. I also read that Chloroquine is a chemo sensitiser, but couldn't find any information on what the timing of this drug should be for maximum efficacy.

My mom takes lomustine+temozolomide in the morning. Can you please help me on when the Chloroquine/Chloroquine Phosphate should be timed for maximum efficacy?

3. How long should chloroquine be taken for? Should it just be done till the chemotherapy or should it be done post the chemotherapy too? I see different researches doing this protocol differently.

My mom has completed 3 cycles of temozolomide and 4 cycles of temozolomide+lomustine. We plan to do two more cycles of temozolomide+lomustine and stop the chemo post that.

4. My mom is also doing the supplements in the table below.

a. My major concern is Artemisia since it is an anti malarial drug too. Is it safe to do both? If yes, how I should I time them so that I get the efficacy of both for my mom?

b. Is there any drug reaction that I should be concerned of? I researched on drugs.com for the interaction list, but all that I could find were two reactions since most of the naturopathic supplements were not there in their database(Interaction list for my mom is here). The two reactions that they talk of is reaction between Chloroquine and Keppra, Chloroquine and Celebrex, how big a concern are they?

My niece keep fighting with GBM. Last 3er January  did new MRI and we are waiting for the result but with the hope that the MRI were well (for some anticipated information)  ..
She has GBM no methilated and we think that temodar is not so effective in this cases. She had a second operation after first operation and treated with temodar. We read about Avastin that is very hopeful.

She started taking a non toxic cocktail of drug (curcumine, fish oil, Melatonina, PSK, Spirulina, Green te, vitamin C, D3,K2, resveratrol, etc) and Savitex with THC y CBD. She doesn't have any medical supervision about the cocktail. After a radioteraphy and little period of rest, she again is taking chemotherapy (temodar) and we think to add others drug (a little bit more toxic) that we read are good to fight against tumors, but we are scared about its interactions. We think to add Chloroquine and Celebrex (celecoxib).

Do you think it’s a good option to join THC and CBD with Chloroquine and Celebrex?. I read about the moderate interactions between Chloroquine and Celebrex, but I didn’t read anything clear for me about THC/CBD and Chloroquine or Celebrex.
Please could you help us about your experiences? We would appreciate any  information. Thank you very much.

Sincerely, Jose MÂȘ

Toxicity of DCA + artesunate combination in a GBM patient

A new case report describes a toxic and eventually fatal reaction following DCA + injected artesunate in a GBM patient.  Hematological and liver toxicity began 6 days after DCA + artesunate combination treatment.

"An unknown amount of DCA was administered and ART (2.5 mg/kg bodyweight) was intravenously infused 148 days after surgery".

Note that artesunate was removed from the CUSP9 protocol due to toxicities.  Probably best to avoid the DCA + artesunate/artemisinins combination.  Has anyone been taking this combination now or previously?

Looking for help with our cocktail

Hi everyone,
I'm new to this blog and would love to get some advice. My dad was diagnosed in December 2015 with a glioblastoma. Unfortunately it's inoperable because of it's location (corpus callosum). I've just read Ben William's book and I think it's very sensible to try the cocktail approach. He finished radiation plus Temodal and is now in his 5th cycle of Temodal. After the 6th cycle he'll be switched to metronomic Temodal. He also takes:
- dexamethadone 4mg/day
- D-L-methadone 1,75ml/2x day
- Heparine injections because of a thrombosis
- Keppra 500mg/2x day
He is also using Optune TTF. But there's more that we want to do. I'm very interested in DCA but worried if it might interact with the methadone. From what I've read online, he should start on a low dose and without caffeine as brain tumor patients can't seem to tolerate a higher dose. Do you think that we should give it a try? I think it's pretty hard to get...
Additionally we're considering the following:
- PSK
- Melatonin plus Aloe Vera (again I'm worried because of the methadone as it makes him really tired)
- Fish oil (Omega 3)
-CoQ10
It would be so helpful for us if you could give u your advice!
Thank you so much
Steffi

CUSP-ND and Prozac

Stephen, I recently re-read the paper on CUSP-ND at:

http://www.anticanceralliance.com/cusp-nd/

and am a bit concerned at all of the "severe" interactions between Prozac and all of the other drugs in the cocktail (starting on page 104). Particularly it's interaction with celebrex and chloroquine.

My questions are:

  1. If you had to choose between prozac and chloroquine, which would you choose?
  2. Moreover, I note that in Kast's CUSP9, he utilizes Zoloft (Sertraline) instead. Was there a reason that the CUSP-ND swapped out zoloft for prozac?
  3. Would one be more beneficial than the other if Optune is also utilized along with the protocols?

Cocktail Medication Times.

I am finding it tricky to decide the best times to give my 18yr old daughter her Cocktail medications and wonder if anyone could advise?
The NO has stopped her TMZ saying he thinks she has her first recurrence within the 6 months of  TMZ after radiotherapy. It's in a different area to original tumour and NO thinks it extends to Brain Stem so we are waiting the date of a Perfusion Sequencing MRI Scan. Her GBM is Methylated. original Biopsy said ATRX lost, focal positivity for GFAP. EMA is negative as well as IDH1. Proliferation labelled Ki67 reached 40% focally. I've been told recurrence Biopsy if done would probably have different results.
I am keen therefore to get the maximum benefit from the medications she is on, which are:-
Celebrex 100mg x 2  x twice daily
Itraconazole 100mg x 1 x once a day
Keppra 750mg morning 1000mg evening
Metformin 500mg x 1 x twice daily
Omeprazole 20mg x1 x twice daily
Rantidine 150mg x1 x once a day
Dexamethasone 6mg x twice daily
Melatonin 10mg x 2 bedtime
Docusate 100mg if required for constipation.
Cyclizine 50mg x 1 up to 3 times daily if required for nausea.
PSK 16 1070mg x 3 once daily
Pure Fish Oil 1100mg x 2 once daily
Vitamin D3 x 2 1000unit tabs once daily.
Yesterday she also started Doxycycline 100mg x 1 once a day.
I read that Dexamethasone reduces the effectiveness of Itraconazole and some medications like
Doxycycline need to be taken two hours apart from indigestion remedies.
Any help as to how to optimize the use of these medications, and /or any recommended treatment advice would be greatly appreciated.
I'm aware that she needs to be on more Cocktail medications but these are proving difficult to get at the moment. Not sure if there any that would be of particular benefit to get right now?We are awaiting delivery of Boswellia and are hoping to get a prescription for Low Dose Naltrexone.
Regards
Jo

fluoxetine and ondansetron

Has any one here used fluoxetine and ondansetron at the same time? If so has there been any side effects ? As I've read that it can have serious side effects
