Fake curcumin?

I purchase Longvida curcumin under the brand name of Nutrivene and it's appearance is orange and you can see the tiny grain like clumps. I purchased Longvida curcumin by Blackmores(Aus brand) and the appearance is very different with the curcumin being a pale yellow with the consistency of fine powder.... Something doesn't seem right. Could you let me know what your Longvida curcumin looks like. Thanks Linda

  1. I purchase from Prohealth. I would assume that since it is patented and trademarked there would be required quality control standards on any carrying the Longvida name. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00SI96M48/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awd_0DS9wbFJNP7E0

  2. Yes I would assume the same but cant account for the differences. Is the Prohealth curcumin bright orange and is it smooth or like grains of sand?

  3. Thanks Danny for your response. Can anyone else please spare a minute to respond.... I am serious in asking people on this blog to let me know what their Longvida curcumin looked like as I spend a lot of money on curcumin and am perplexed as to why the seemingly same two products are so different in texture and colour.

  4. Might be worth asking Verdure Sciences about this.

  6. Linda,

We've been using the longvida curcumin made by Vitamin Research Group for the past 12 months. I had purchased an 8 month supply of it in the beginning and the color was a bright orange, with clumps like you mentioned. When I purchased the next 4 months worth, the pills were larger, the color was more yellow than orange, and it appeared to be finer powder rather than clumps.

Seems like the Longvida formula was changed, and the new stuff is more yellow and powdery.

    Best,

    Kendall

  9. Tatiana, if your husband is newly diagnosed, I recommend looking into a vaccine treatment associated with resection. This what I wish I had known about when I was diagnosed. I also recommend starting a new post instead of using this post which is a different subject.

  11. I contacted Vedure Sciences re differences between different Curcumin supplement suppliers. Their stance was that I need to direct my questions to the company in question. I contacted Blackmores and they told me that Vedure Sciences said there was variation in colour/texture(?) due to seasonal changes.... which I found hard to swallow. I contacted Nutrivene where I have been ordering the Longvida curcumin for 2 years and they said they purchase their capsules already prefilled directly from Vedure Science . I'm very aware of how the curcumin looks as we open each capsule as Alan can't swallow them and the capsules from Nutrivene have looked the same in colour and texture for the past 2 years. I guess I'm naturally sceptic but when taking a closer look at Blackmores I do notice their capsule is slightly larger and the amount of curcumin is 400mg whereas Nutrivene is 500mg. Blackmores label which is considered as a cheap label in Aus must put a lot of filler in their capsules but doesn't declare the filler on the label. This information is probably not much use for anyone else but I needed to do my own due diligence.

    1. Hi Linda. I want to get some of this for my husband and make sure it's the right quality. The Nutrivene Longvida curcumin on Amazon UK is £40 (approx AUD 75) for 60 500mg caps, by far the most expensive but it seems from your post that the quality is good?
We have been advised he should not take any supplements whilst on TMZ, does anyone have a view on this?
thanks and best wishes to all

  12. I buy Nutrivene direct from their website and have an autoship in place which is the most economical way for us. We have taken all supplements while on Temodar. Our oncologist was ok with supplements.

  13. Thanks Linda. It seems there are as many different views as there are oncologists.

  14. Hi All,
I called ProHealth about their longvida curcumin. ProHealth said the manufacturer (Verdure Sciences) had recently switched milling processes resulting in a texture and color change in the longvida curcumin from a granular orange color to a powdery yellow color. Prohealth said a change in the actual formula had not occurred (ie., just a milling process change). ProHealth said that because of "clumping" issues with the powdery form and customer concerns about the change, that Verdure Sciences will likely be going back to the prior orange granular milling process.
